Blogs Spot #4: Main Line Dads!

MAINLINEDADS

We here at Poppin’ Bottles love to get together with our fellow Pennsylvania dads and this case is no different! Eric Raymond from Main Line Dads filled out our little questionnaire and we’re happy to have him as part of our Blogs Spot feature!

1: Besides becoming a parent, what made you decide to blog and are you still blogging for the same reason? Have you evolved since you started, and if so, how?

I decided to blog mainly because I run a dads group called MainLineDads. I wanted to have a place where other dads could exchange ideas and advice but it turned out to be more of a place to set up events and share articles and unite our thoughts. My blog allowed me to voice my personal take on subjects that I felt were important. I just recently started my blog so the evolution of the blog is still forming but has transformed from just the group on Facebook to this.

2: Out of all your posts, which do you think resonated most with others and why?

So far I literally only have three posts officially published and I have two or three that are currently being worked on. For a new blog, I think they all have gotten some good attention for different reasons.

Sexy Daddy

Ban or Not? Playdate Drama

These are both specifically about Dads and the issues we face socially such as the playdate drama and personal self image. We aren’t impervious to all issues and these two posts touch on that aspect.

3: How do you think/hope your child/children will view your blog later in life?

I hope that my children will view my blog as a historical documentation of the evolution of parenting. We aren’t perfect but as stay at home dads we are energetic and excited about learning and adjusting our jobs as parents for the better. Not that our children will follow this as a “handbook” but perhaps just understanding that gender roles should be done away with and that as long as you put your family first then parenting will always be healthy, good and successful.

4: What kind of parenting advice have you received that you actually used in raising your little one?

Some of the blogs that I follow help to put a humorous spin on a lot of some of the stressful parts of parenting. The only way we can be successful dads is to not get stressed out!

5. What do you hope to gain from blogging? What are your goals, where do you see it going?

I hope to develop my writing skills and also develop my posts so they can reach more people and help parents in general to understand that we aren’t perfect. My goals are ambitious. I would love to become the “web MD” of parenting for dads. If you have a question about something regarding parenting then you come to mainlinedadspa.wordpress.com (eventually just “.com” soon). It would also be great if my blog can generate income enough for me to continue to be a stay-at-home dad and help others.

Thanks for checking out our good friend down at Main Line Dads!
