Blogs Spot #8: Stress Free Dad!

STRESSFREEDAD

Meet our new friend Gerry Bruno! He lives the life we Parents all dream of, the stress free life! Via his site HERE you can follow his chronicles as he reminds us time and time again that sometimes, you just gotta stop and take a deep breath. Check out his answers below, and pop over to Stress Free Dad when your done!

1: Besides becoming a parent, what made you decide to blog and are you still blogging for the same reason? Have you evolved since you started, and if so, how?

I really needed a way to express some of the feelings of daddyhood.  I think writing about what I’m going through truly helps me cope with the situations. Also, since I’m starting this journey in my forties, (44) I feel I can come approach it from a different perspective.  If it happened earlier, I may have missed out on the thousands of mistakes I’ve made in life… and maybe even resented missing out on them.  But now, I feel I’m well aware of the lifestyle I’m giving up and fully embrace the new lifestyle I’m gaining. I know I’ll be sleepless, cashless, with a house full of clutter, but I’m looking forward to all of this and of course, poopy diapers.  My blog is so new so it probably hasn’t evolved, but I do see it morphing into a place where other dads can find some peace and support.

2: Out of all your posts, which do you think resonated most with others and why?

Like I said, my blog is new but the one that really resonated with people and helped me realize that there are so many others who have gone through what I’m going through now is “The Earth Split… I fell in” It was about hearing my son had a hole in his heart and how I eventually remembered to stop and take a breath.

3: How do you think/hope your child/children will view your blog later in life?

Wow. I hope that they’ll appreciate the recorded history and know how much joy they’ve brought to my life.  Sometimes it’s difficult to verbally explain emotions but I hope by reading the blog later on they will know what’s in my heart.  I also hope they they will see some useful advice that helped other dads and maybe one day, them.

4: What kind of parenting advice have you received that you actually used in raising your little one?

The best advice was to always be present.  It happens fast and being in that moment at that given time is your only defense.

5. What do you hope to gain from blogging? What are your goals, where do you see it going?

I hope to gain clarity. Perspective. I hope it truly does make me stress free.  I think, for me, when I let things out I feel so much better.  This is my way of letting it out.  I hope to eventually help others who are going through similar situations. I hope that a young dad who is freaking out can find a post on my site that will make him feel better.  It happened for me when I read other daddy bloggers.  To know that I wasn’t the only one going through this was so helpful.  I hope I can do that for someone else.  As for where do I see it going?  Who knows… Since I’m in the TV business, I make create a show from some of the things I’ve learned.

Thanks so much to Gerry for taking the time to take part in our humble questionnaire! Don’t forget to go check out Stress Free Dad, and show some love by following him via Twitter, and Facebook!
